Three years of training as a nurse. A long period for her to endure.All the hardship and finally made it as a full fledge nurse in the General Hospital,Singapore.
Then she was put into full time. Work with binding bond to serve a five full years. Failing which she'd be penalized. Must repay all expenses incurred by her during training to them.
It began on very well. The job suited her.No problems during her initial six months.Thereafter she began to feel the pressure stacked on her. Her schedule was extremely tight. Pushing her to the edge.
Reason was she had to juggle between career and romance.
She was going out with a her old boy friend. A rich and famous architect dope who used his position to seduce her. Into loving him deeply. Showering her with expensive gifts and dinning at fancy restaurants.Things she could only dreamed of.
The tight schedule of daily practical work and and the meetings with her friend took a toll on her, both mentally and physically. Things came to a head and she was primed for a relapse of her old illness,Schizophrenia.She was on the point of collapse but she was quick to respond to it before anything untold could have happened,Yes,she was prompt to point this out to her old lover.
In panic the sympathetic old lover did not know what to do to calm her down or to help her alleviate her pain.Seeing that there was no way out of that delimna she suggested to her lover that she ought to resign from the Hospital,but it was not that simple just resigned that is it? Definitely not for she had to pay indemnity back to the Hospital.She had no means of doing it do and did not know what to do?.
In deep despair her lover came to her rescue and submitted fully in cash to repay the Hospital.With that her resignation was accorded as resignation by her own free will.With that reimbursement the Hospital accepted her resignation gracefully without any fussed.So she left the Singapore General Hospital after actually serving one and a half years with the Hospital.Her bond was five years but her lover made good with a repayment for the rest of the months not served.It was a hefty sum of money but chicken feed to the rich and famous architect.
Leaving the Hospital she recuperated and underwent treatment for illness which was getting serious then.Well,given the full attention by her financially sound old lover and her own relatives she responded very well to treatment.For those she was extremely happy but no sooner has she recovered fully she began applying for jobs again.She just cannot stay alone and enjoy life with her rich and famous lover.
Experienced nurses were in demand those days and soon her application to Balestier Hospital, a private Hospital was a success after an interview.Balestier Hospital is a well known private hospital whose patients were mostly the well to do.It called itself HMI Baliestiar Hospital.H meaning health,M for management and I international.It actually a clinic & health screening centre.
Actually she was there in late 1992 to mid 1993. As usual her work went on quite well.As normal work at this centre was similarly hectic and pressure of work was no lesser.She survived there for about seven months before she re-applied to the General Hospital Singapore as a Nurse.
Her records with the Hospital was in tagged as good because she had earlier left on her own accord.Her relationship with her old lover continued with her as his mistress.The whole affair remained a secret from his family.So mid 1993 she rejoined the General Hospital Singapore,Everything went on smoothly until 1995.
n 1995 she again succumbed to her sickness and once again forced to resign her position as a nurse.This time it was the same as she could not cope with the pressure of the job.Her lover was a very busy architect was not seeing much of her as he had plenty of overseas engagement and therefore away most of the time,.Being left alone most of the time her mind begin to wander astray giving way to wild imagination and delusions.
Her behaviors deteriorated and her personality was effected.This led to hallucinations in the deep nights and she was living alone in a rented room then. Her lover was not around to console her, especially there was urgency that she had to see him as se missed his presence to be with her in time of need. .He was not available when it matters most to her.Apparently he was overseas attending to his business.There was no way she could have reached him as he never allowed her to.
Almost at the same time news of her parents had maternal problems and often quarreling.Their quarrels were leading them, heading for a divorce.These dwelt another severe blow on her on her troubled souls.Both parents have been very loving and dear to her.With them intending to break up really saddened and tortured her already sick brain. Both her parents were her loving guiding stars and with them breaking up definitely shattered her dear heart.She was lost and in panic and had all sort of illusions.
Plunged into deeper sorrow with all those above problems and at those critical moments and without any one to confide in when it matters most she just collapsed again.Her old faithful lover was apparently away and not to be found.According to reliable sources he was overseas on business meetings.She was so stressed when that happened she just simply gave up and had her relapsed.
In fright she had the composure to resign her position as nurse of the General hospital.Thus she left without any benefits as she was leaving on her own accord.She was residing in a rented room then and her younger brother was informed of her condition.He panic not knowing what to do?.Their mother had already shifted off from their family home in Taiping and was residing with her elder daughter in Kuala Lumpur,pending a divorce from their father.
Instead of putting her in a hospital in Singapore for treatment,her brother made the immediate choice and under the instructions from their mother made plans to sent her home to Kuala Lumpur.He brother presently a Manager of a trading company exporting goods to India and other South East Asian countries.To take her back he had to applied for leave from his Company.
Besides treating her in Kuala Lumpur would be much cheaper.Of course medical should not have been the problem as her rich lover could easily pay for all these,but he was not around then.Waiting for him to return will be late and maybe in vain.Their mother also insisted that she be brought back to home ion Kuala Lumpur with immediate effect.For the mother to be in Singapore would not be so ideal as she was unfamiliar with life style in Singapore besides in Singapore the had no other relatives except for the brother.
It was no easy task bringing her back as Ming was unwilling to leave Singapore .Although mentally unstable and having split personality she still bored loving thoughts about her old lover.Hoping he might dropped in to see her again to console her,but he was no where to be found or he was still in the dark as to what was happening.Driving back to Kuala Lumpur with a mentally ill sister was in deed a challenge besides dangerous,so he enlisted the aid of a friend, strong friend.
Strong friend I mean strong sufficiently to hold down a mentally sick woman should she rebuke them and turned aggressive or violent for sending her home to Kuala Lumpur.Mentally ill person were known to be exceptionally strong and difficult to control.Anyway somehow her brother got the services of a friend.
They had a tough time couching her to go into her brother's car for the trip home to Kuala Lumpur.This so because she was at no time wanting to leave Singapore and all the while pinning for her lover to see her.Unfortunately her lover could not be contacted.Apparently he was overseas.However after a long pursuasion she relented and quietly followed them into the car.
However she did not followed them quietly.She went into their car reluctantly often grumbling.At times a loud and some times to quiet to be audible.Most of the while she insisted on seeing her lover and demanded they called him .Also she was having the notion that they were lying to her or trying to keep her lover away from her.Well she was having delusion or something similar.Her brother and friend were patient with her trying their best to keep her happy and quiet.
However she was not aggressive though there were times she had attempted to screamed but somehow held back.Having secured her at the back seat her brother carefully drove off.There was no way he could have driven faster as fear she might open the car's door to jump out of the car as they know she never did want to leave Singapore.He drove on with ears fully attending to what she was speaking.She talking initially along the way but dozed off at certain stages.
There were times that she dozes off and within those split seconds she would all of a sudden woke as if in in hallucinations hearing noises and talking back to it in crying and also in laughter.That caught her brother and company by surprised but they kept their cool and slowly pacify her.
Her brother kept his composure and drove on home straight to Kuala Lumpur at a slow space,never did he dare accelerate faster and that could be fatal.He had to be extra careful as the mentally ill sister was not keen on leaving Singapore.She wanted to be in Singapore where her old lover is,even without a job at hand because her lover was filthy rich so nothing to worry.
With her condition getting worst by the days and she was getting difficult to be comprehended.Her mood were changing and were difficult to tell between reality and unreal.She was never thinking logically.Her emotion varies from minute to minute and not behaving normally in social situations. Her brother had only to shift her home,besides there was no one to take care of her there.anyway there was no one to consult on as the lover of his sister was no where around.Whereas in Kuala Lumpur her mother can look after her and she was insisting on her return.
At times,she remained alert and awake the whole while in the car crouching in one corner of the car grumbling. Very often she was calling out for her lover asking why he was not around to see her off?. They stopped at only at one rest place to ease themselves and to purchase some food and drinks.Ming too went down to refresh and eased herself at those stop but remained quite stable and stayed extremely quiet.However what ever it was they were all the time by her side guarding.
Both men were very careful when talking to her. Very often with soft and caring tone for fear they might aroused her to transform to be violent and aggressive because she was temperamental .Her behavior could changed any minute. They were aware that should she begin to scream that could be disastrous ,bringing unwarranted attentions from the nearby public.But she remained claimed all the while.
The whole trip was a slow and tedious one,it took more than the necessary hours about six hours to reach Kuala Lumpur.Nevertheless they arrived at their sister's house just before night fall.On arrival their mother in haste rushed her loving sick daughter to her room.She put on a brave smile when she saw her mother.There were warm greetings and embarrasses,although both the mother and her shed some loving tears.
Herc sister's house is located in a local housing garden Sri Bintang in Segambut .Her sister is one of the Manager of a huge bank locally.Her name is Lilian.Actually her house housed only her immediate family of five,she and her husband plus a pair of children.They also have an Indonesian maid..Now with the mother and Ming they now have six members .
Their father was present that evening for he had just rushed to Kuala Lumpur on hearing his beloved daughter's return.His presence made dear Ming extremely happy
and her condition improved tremendously.She could recognized every one present and was seen happily chatting away with every one.That sudden changed in character surprised everyone indeed.
Soon it was time to bed and all retired to sleep but somehow dear Ming could not sleep and her eyes kept wandering about looking at the ceiling.Her dear mother tried to specify her but her mind kept wandering.All of a sudden she remembered someone not around and that was her old lover.In anxiety she got angry and gave out a screaming shouting her lover's name,asking his where about?.
At times she asked to be sent back to Singapore.Had not been the present of her beloved parents she would easily have created havoc and beyond control. Yes,she could still recognized her parents who wee very dear to her.Their present really kept her under control,although it was a long long night for them.
